Sunday | Post Flood Revegetation in the Mersey River Valley
Sunday 8 November | 9.30 am to approximately 3.00 pm
Meet at Western Tiers Community Club, 33A Parsonage Street, Deloraine.
Bus transport to Liena and return to Deloraine is included.
Join the Liena Water Catchment Rehabilitation Group for a field trip through the Mersey River Valley, exploring almost ten years of restoration following the record 2016 floods.
Since the group formed, intensive revegetation has been followed by ongoing planting, willow removal and other restoration work across the river valley.
Visit two nearby properties around Liena with different landscapes and restoration objectives, and hear directly from local Landcarers about the techniques they have used, what they have learnt and how the sites have changed over time.
The day begins with the Riverbank Forum in Deloraine at 9.30 am, bringing together community Landcare experience and technical expertise to explore the challenges of managing a dynamic river system. After morning tea, the bus will depart for Liena at 11.00 am.
A BBQ lunch is provided. Dietary requirements will be collected when booking.
