The MOB on the Eastern Shore

Eastern_Shore_MOB_canva_flyer_Final.jpgAre you a Member of Landcare Tasmania (Individual or Group) in Tasman, Sorell, Clarence, Glenorchy, Hobart, Brighton, or Derwent Valley? If so, this invitation is for you!

The Member Outreach BBQ is a great networking event for Landcare Tasmania members to meet other Landcarers, hear about how they go about their work, and gain new knowledge and skills. In this event you can learn:

  • How to increase community engagement with effective signage
  • How to monitor wildlife using wildlife cameras
  • How to measure the health of your waterways with the Waterbug App

It's for all Landcare Tas members and their families, including bushcare, wildcare, friends of, rivercare, dunecare, coastcare, etc.

This second MOB for 2018 will be hosted by Glebe Hill Bushland Reserve Landcare Group and Cambridge Primary School.

10:00 AM The day will begin with the group taking a tour around Glebe Hill Bushland Reserve.  You'll hear about how the group has increased community engagement by installing some great signage, and how they monitor wildlife in the reserve using wildlife cameras. You'll be able to mix and mingle with members of other Landcare groups and members, pick up ideas on the what and how of doing Landcare work.

12:30 PM After the walk we'll head on over to Cambridge Oval to have a social BBQ lunch catered by Landcare Tasmania with support from Clarence City Council. We will hear from Cambridge Primary School students and a rep from Clarence City Council about the restoration efforts here along the Barilla Rivulet.

1:30 PM Next, Freshwater Ecologist John Gooderham from The Waterbug Company will introduce the Waterbug app. John will lead a training session collecting samples of waterbugs in the Barilla Rivulet. The new app for mobile devices helps identify the waterbugs collected and it’s simple, fun and easy. John's work is part of the National Waterbug Blitz, a great citizen science initiative for collecting data on the health of rivers and wetlands around Australia.

Our Member Outreach BBQ event in Burnie last month was a great hit, and this one is sure to be popular too.
