Kingston Beach Coastcare held a Spring education event for members which included training in the use of the iNaturalist app delivered by Kingborough Council's Natural Areas Interpretation Officer BJ and plant identification in the field at Tyndall beach by botanist Cassie Strain. The twelve participants were amazed at the diversity of plants at Tyndall Beach and really enjoyed the day. Lunch wasn't too bad either, in fact delicious! It was a wonderful way for our members to be rewarded for all their hard work and learn useful information and skills at the same time.
We are holding the same training in Summer this December for our members and members of other community Landcare groups in Kingborough.
Funding for these two events was generously made available by the Tasmanian Landcare Fund through donations from the JM Roberts Charitable Fund. We hope that we can secure further funding to roll out this easily replicated education event to more Kingborough Landcare volunteers in the future.
