The group works on restoration of Penguin habitat and foreshore rehabilitation. A Wildcare group - check the Wildcare website for more information. The Friends of Huon Island exemplify this mission through our restoration work on Huon Island. Once cleared for potato farming, the island is being transformed back into a thriving native habitat. Our group plants approximately 250 endemic species each year, sourced from seeds collected on the island. This approach not only restores biodiversity but also provides habitat for species like the swift parrot.Our work is supported by Landcare Tasmania, which provides financial, personal, and professional assistance, enabling groups to undertake critically important environmental work.Our Membership with Landcare Tasmania is supported by Huon Valley Council
