Liena Water Catchment Rehabilitation Group
We formed the Liena Water Catchment Rehabilitation Group, with the aim of rehabilitating our river landscape, keeping in mind that this is a spate river of considerable power and variability. Our group is interested in restoring both the native vegetation of the riparian zone and adjacent grazing land. Up to now we have been working mostly as individuals, but the formation of our group should facilitate joint efforts.
Regular Events:
Ground preparation (spraying and slashing, tree plantings, willow poisoning (engaged for about 50 days, mostly in groups of 1-2, but with several larger working bees. Planted approx. 2000 tubestock on 3 sites in Mersey Valley).
