Friends of Fisher Island (Wildcare inc.)
The Friends of Fisher Island was established to support and encourage conservation and research on this small seabird island off Flinders Island. Our role has expanded to include restoration projects on other small seabird islands throughout Tasmania, with a focus on invasive species eradication. The successful removal of Black Rats from Big Green Island has resulted in the Friends of Fisher Island partnering with the Pennicott Foundation to eradicate Black rats and Mirror Bush on George Rocks off Tasmania's north-east coast. This project is planned to be implemented 2019-20 and will be followed by more high-priority island restorations over the next decade.
