Blackmans Bay Landcare
Blackmans Bay Landcare is a sub-group of the Blackmans Bay Community Association (BBCA). The Blackmans Bay Community Association Incorporated’s principal purpose and objective is to promote and protect the interests of the residents and ratepayers and the environment of Blackmans Bay.
Our Landcare Group aims to restore, care for and improve the health of the native flora and fauna ecosystems found in our local area. Our specific activities will be formulated though consultation with, and guidance from: Landcare Tasmania, the Kingborough Council (Natural Resource Management Team and the Kingborough Landcare Advisory Group (KLAG) and our local community through the Blackmans Bay Community Association Inc.
Initial projects under consideration include:
* The Mary Knoll Reserve - working with Council to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of this reserve as a dense, housing subdivision is constructed on its boundary.
* The Flowerpot Headland Reserve - removing dead trees and working with Council to re-plant appropriately.
* An area adjacent to the Illawarra Road stormwater outfall - take advice from Council about removing weed species and re-vegetating with appropriate plants.
* Work along the Suncoast Walking Track in conjunction with Council plans.
This information is provided for people to contact member groups about their community Landcare activities. Anyone wishing to distribute information generally to groups should contact Landcare Tasmania with their request.
