The Huon and Channel Field Trip was an outstanding adventure.
Look at all that cheese!! The Huon and Channel Field Trip was an outstanding adventure. Field trippers were able to see an innovative re-vegetation site in Huntingfield, which is also home to the endangered Forty-spotted Pardalote. Next - Paul Thomas took us for a walk along Randall's Bay, showed us the new Randall's Bay track and showed off the protective management strategies which have been implemented by the Friends of Randall's Bay Coastcare Group.
We enjoyed an insightful tour of Glen Huon Dairy, of Bruny Island Cheese - meeting the calves, checking out the dairy facilities and gaining understanding of the environmental values, farm ethos and grassland management. And most importantly - we all tucked in to a feast of exceptional produce from the farm.
Finally, Sandra and Carol showed off the efforts and achievements of one of the oldest Hobart-based Landcare groups, Waterworks Valley Landcare Group. Overall, a fantastic day! Thank you everyone.
