Swift Parrot Awareness Day

You've probably heard of Swifties, but how much do you really know about the world's fastest parrot?

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We are holding a Swift Parrot Awareness Day to raise awareness in the Huon and Channel area of the critically endangered swift parrot, its biology, threats, preferred nesting and foraging habitat, the pros and cons of putting up nestboxes, how to log data on sightings, how to collect and propagate seeds of blue and black gums, and what you can do to help!

Speakers will include Dr. Margie Morrice from the Threatened Species Unit at NRE, Andrew Hingston - Guide at Inala Nature Tours and Adjunct Researcher at University of Tasmania, the Friends of Garden Island Creek Landcare Group, Luke Cooper and Anna Minchin from Landcare Tasmania, and another guest speaker yet to be announced!

Join us for a day of talks, demonstrations and a good discussion on the 11th of May at the Charlotte Cove Scout House.

WHAT TO BRING:

Lunch and morning tea will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Bring a drinkbottle and some questions! Seating is limited, so also bring your own fold-up chair if you have one.

This workshop is part of Landcare Tasmania's Landscape Restoration and Community Outreach programs and is funded by NRM South.
