Landcare Action Grant Open Round 5 Batch 1 Approved Projects October 2023

About this grant opportunity:

The Tasmanian Government launched the Landcare Action Grants in 2018, with the support of the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) and Landcare Tasmania. The Program has been established to provide State funded grant opportunities to co-invest with farmers, landowners, and other community organisations on practical on-ground works for revegetation, sustainable agriculture, carbon farming and river restoration activities

As part of this program, Landcare Tasmania will deliver an open round of grants (Round 5) for projects across Tasmania behalf of, and in partnership with, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas).

Funds of up to $463,500 have been allocated for Round 5 of the open round grants. 

Round 5 Grants Available:

Note that revegetation projects will be given priority in Round 5 funding to enable adequate planning for the 2024 winter planting season. A further application round may be opened in late 2023 subject to funding availability. All projects are to submit a Completion Report by 30 June 2025

Preferred funding amount: $5,000 - $20,000 per project

Maximum grant amount: $40,000 to be paid in up to 3 milestones, to projects of outstanding merit. A progress report is required for payment of each milestone.

Note that revegetation projects will be given priority in the first round of funding to enable adequate planning for the 2024 winter planting season.

You may submit more than one application. A separate application form must be submitted for each proposed project.

Objectives:

The Program is designed meet the following objectives of the Landcare Action Grants:

• Improve landscape and riverine health, stability and resilience;
• Support enhanced land management practices to reduce erosion and sedimentation;
• Assist the community to holistically manage natural and productive land and waterways across the landscape.
• Provide opportunities for landholders to implement carbon farming initiatives in order to access carbon markets, in particular the Australian Government’s Emission Reduction Fund.

Eligibility:

Open to both Landcare Tasmania members and non-members.

The Program is eligible to a broad range of individuals, groups and organisations. To be eligible to apply for a grant you must be an individual or an organisation capable of entering into a legally binding and enforceable agreement with Landcare Tasmania. Eligible entities include the following:

• Primary producers
• Private landholders
• Schools
• Other land managers

Note that for unincorporated community groups, a sponsor organisation or lead individual will need to apply on behalf of the group. Please refer to the full guidelines for details.
